Special Machines

Our grinding head is an operational unit specifically designed to be mounted on the toolpost of conventional lathes, CNC lathes, or industrial manipulators. It is the ideal solution for heavy-duty grinding, satin finishing, and polishing of cylindrical components, shafts, shells, ferrule rings, and tank ends. Thanks to its high operational flexibility, the unit allows working both on a contact wheel (for rapid and precise stock removal) and on a free belt (for finishing and blending operations on curved surfaces). The unit is equipped with a belt-tensioning assembly designed to mount abrasive belts with lengths of 2500 mm or 3000 mm and widths up to 100 mm. Belt tensioning is managed via a pneumatic system that guarantees constant and optimal tension throughout the entire work cycle, preventing slippage, compensating for the natural stretching of the abrasive, and drastically extending the belt's lifespan. To ensure maximum precision and adaptability on the most complex geometries, the belt-tensioner assembly is designed to pivot freely around the motor axis, allowing the grinding head to lower onto the workpiece and faithfully follow its profile. The pressure and contact force on the workpiece are adjustable via a dedicated pneumatic cylinder. The system is equipped with motors rating up to 5.5 kW, ideal for withstanding continuous heavy workloads and high removal rates. The system can be supplied complete with a separate electrical power and control panel. To satisfy any specific process requirement and adapt to different materials (stainless steel, carbon steel, light alloys), the control system is available both in a fixed-speed configuration and in an advanced version with an electronic variable speed drive (inverter), allowing smooth and precise management of the cutting speed.
