Belt Grinding Machines
The Altair 5R belt grinding head is a high-performance processing unit designed exclusively for integration into automated **robotic cells** and automated finishing systems. Featuring an extremely compact vertical layout, this unit minimizes the floor footprint inside the cell, facilitating plant layout and optimizing the robotic arm's movements during workpiece manipulation. The technological core of the Altair 5R is its advanced 5-roller belt tensioner system, engineered to offer unprecedented operational flexibility on a single station. The drive pulley and the linear pneumatic tensioning system are fully enclosed and guarded inside the machine body. Externally, the architecture features a **ø200 mm central roller flanked by two ø150 mm rollers**; this special geometric configuration allows the robot to process components in three distinct modes: rigid contact on the central roller, or utilizing the two wide free belt sections (upper and lower) for blending and finishing curved surfaces. The unit can be configured with industrial motors ranging from **4 kW to 5.5 kW**, capable of delivering constant torque and withstanding the continuous duty cycles typical of automation. The system is designed to accommodate abrasive **belts with lengths of 3000 mm or 3500 mm** and widths selectable between 50 mm or 80 mm depending on the application's precision requirements. The pneumatic tensioning compensates for belt stretch in real time, while the simplified manual tracking system enables fast, intuitive, and secure alignment, drastically reducing downtime during abrasive changes.
